Gov. Sam Brownback mounts a 2001 Harley-Davidson police model after re-enacting his recent signing of a dead

Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback appears to have an affinity for Harley-Davidsons.

He couldn’t resist taking a seat Thursday on a 2001 Harley police model. It was wheeled into the reception area of his Statehouse office by backers of a new law allowing motorcyclists and bicyclists to move through “dead” red lights after a reasonable amount of time if traffic is clear.

Brownback repeated his signing of the bill that enacted the law — putting a copy of the legislation on the motorcycle before he put a pen to it.

He then got on the motorcycle, smiling broadly. Asked whether he’s ever ridden a motorcycle, the governor said he has one.
