32-year-old sentenced to life in prison for Emporia shooting

? A Lyon County judge has sentenced a 32-year-old man to life in prison in the shooting death of another man.

The Emporia Gazette reported that District Court Judge Jeffry Larson sentenced Jimmy Dominguez on Friday. Dominguez was convicted last month of first- degree murder, aggravated battery and criminal discharge of a firearm in the 2009 death of 25-year-old Jose Arroyo.

The sentence includes no parole until 2059 and no time off for good behavior on the murder conviction.

Dominguez has maintained his innocence and indicated he plans to appeal.

Another man, Jorge Jurado, earlier pleaded guilty to criminal solicitation of second-degree murder and criminal discharge of a firearm in the case.

He was sentenced to more than 12 years in prison.
