Wamego superintendent resigns, effective June 30

? The Wamego school district is looking for a new superintendent.

The current superintendent, Doug Conwell, announced he is resigning effective June 30.

Conwell told KMAN that it seemed like the right time to resign. He had discussed a possible resignation with the school board in the last few months but had not been definite about it until now.

The school board held a special meeting Tuesday night to discuss the process of searching for Conwell’s replacement. The board voted to hire the Kansas Association of School Boards to help with the process.
