Kansas woman faces June 28 trial in daughter’s death

? A second-degree murder trial has been set for June 28 for a Hutchinson woman whose 3-month-old baby died from the heat of a hairdryer.

Prosecutors say 19-year-old Brigit Hippen’s daughter died of hyperthermia in February 2010 after Hippen left her in a bassinet near a hairdryer and then fell asleep. They say the death was an accident, but Hippen acted with extreme indifference to her child.

The Hutchinson News reports that Hippen appeared Friday for a pretrial hearing before Reno County District Judge Trish Rose.
