Fort Riley ? A new center is preparing to open at Fort Riley to treat soldiers suffering from what the Army calls a signature wound from recent wars.

The new mild traumatic brain injury clinic on Fort Riley’s Custer Hill complex is designed to provide enough space and proper environment to treat soldiers suffering from the injuries. A ribbon cutting is set for Thursday.

Mild traumatic brain injuries are caused by force resulting in a concussion. Symptoms include headaches, balance problems, hearing problems, lack of self control and mood changes.

Fort Riley says its hospital staff has served more than 860 service members with injuries since January 2008, The new clinic will have more than 20 staff members.
