Ottawa shooting victim in stable condition

A 26-year-old Ottawa man was in stable condition Sunday morning after suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

According to a media release from the Ottawa Police Department, the incident occurred about 9:11 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of West Eagle Pass Court.

When officers arrived at the scene they located the victim, who told them he had confronted an intruder in his home and was shot by the suspect. The victim described the suspect as a white man, about six feet tall wearing a black jacket. No additional information was regarding the suspect was available.

A search conducted by officers on foot and with the help of units from Franklin and Johnson counties did not result in the location of the suspect.

The victim is being treated at a Kansas City area hospital and is listed in stable condition.
