Topeka ? Topeka police are investigating the city’s ninth homicide of the year.

A 26-year-old man was shot and killed in a car early Saturday. Police identified the victim as Courtney Cortez Dowd.

Police are seeking the public’s help in providing information.

Police Capt. Darin Scott said the shooting didn’t appear to be random and may have stemmed from a disturbance at a nearby hotel.
