Accident on Kansas Turnpike blocks eastbound traffic in construction zone east of Lawrence

Another accident on the Kansas Turnpike temporarily blocked eastbound traffic between Lawrence and Eudora.

According to an alert from the Kansas Turnpike Authority, two vehicles were involved in an accident near milemarker 206, or two miles east of the closed Lawrence exit.

The road was reopened by 7 p.m.

Initially, the turnpike authority said the accident was in the westbound lanes, but they’ve corrected their report to say the eastbound lanes.

Because of construction in that area, traffic is reduced to one lane, which the accident is blocking.

There was no immediate word when traffic would be able to move again.
