Senior citizen group rejects marijuana
Topeka ? In a close vote, the Kansas Silver-Haired Legislature last week rejected a resolution supporting medical marijuana.
The measure, which would have requested that the Kansas Legislature pass a bill allowing marijuana for debilitating medical conditions failed, 37-40.
Supporters said medical marijuana could be used to help alleviate pain for many afflictions that affect the elderly.
But opponents said that more research is needed on the effects of marijuana, and noted some states that have approved medical marijuana are seeing widespread use outside of pain management.
