Kansans win national Toyota racing art contest

? A central Kansas man and his son have won a national Toyota race car artwork contest with a design that highlights the disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

The design called “Lou Gehrig aka ALS” was created by Jeff Hallowell and his 8-year-old son Ethan. It features American flags, baseballs and racing flames, along with messaging to support the fight against ALS. It beat out more than 52,000 entries in the Toyota Racing “Sponsafy Your Ride Contest.”

A Toyota Camry wrapped in the artwork was featured in the parade lap before Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race in Phoenix.
