Kansas National Guard Hall of Fame inducts 2 men

? Two men with long and distinguished careers in the Kansas National Guard have been inducted into the Guard’s Hall of Fame.

More than 400 people attended a ceremony Sunday to honor Col. Paul E. Idol and Maj. Gen. Lloyd E. “Gene” Krase (cross) in Topeka. They became the 95th and 96th people inducted into the hall.

Idol served four years with the Army before joining the National Guard in 1954. He was a colonel and chief of the Guard’s selective service section when he retired from the military in 1992.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that during his 40-year military career, Krase was chief of staff for the Guard and deputy director of emergency management in Kansas. He was commanding general for the 35th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Fort Leavenworth when he retired in 2003.
