Former state senator says he’s not Brownback’s running mate

? Former Kansas state Sen. Nick Jordan says he’s not running for lieutenant governor this year.

Fellow Republicans have been speculating that the Shawnee Republican would share a ticket with leading GOP gubernatorial candidate and U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback.

But Jordan said Friday, “I am not the guy.”

Brownback plans to introduce his running mate at rallies in eight cities Tuesday and Wednesday.

Jordan served in the Kansas Senate for 13 years before giving up that seat to run unsuccessfully for Congress in 2008.

Some Republicans also saw state Sen. Jeff Colyer, of Overland Park, as a possible running mate for Brownback. Colyer did not return a message left on his cell phone Friday.
