— The Riley County Police Department says one of its officers has been arrested on suspicion of theft and official misconduct.

Department officials say the detective was taken into custody Thursday morning on two felony counts of theft and two felony counts of official misconduct. He was released on $10,000 bond.

The department did not provide details on what led to the arrest, citing the ongoing investigation.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the attorney general’s office are assisting in the investigation.

WIBW-AM reports that the officer had been suspended from duty before the arrest and will remain on suspension pending the resolution of the case.

He was with the Riley County Police Department’s narcotics unit, and has been with the department since 2006.
