River Festival replaces Michaels

? The Wichita River Festival will replace the ailing Bret Michaels with the 1970s rock band Cheap Trick as its opening act.

The 47-year-old Michaels, a reality TV star and the lead singer of the rock band Poison, has been hospitalized since suffering a brain hemorrhage last week. He was reported to be in stable but critical condition.

His illness left organizers scrambling to find a new opening act for the festival, which starts May 7. Festival President Janet Wright announced Wednesday that Cheap Trick had signed on.
