KCK man charged in shooting incident
An 18-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man has been charged with four criminal counts after a weekend shooting incident near 23rd and Iowa streets.
The Douglas County District Attorney’s office charged Jerome Gilbert III with three felonies — criminal discharge of a firearm at an occupied dwelling or vehicle, defacing identification marks of a firearm and obstructing legal process or official duty — and one count of misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
Police arrested Gilbert after an officer heard gunshots about 2:20 a.m. Sunday near the intersection. Gilbert had reportedly fired at a vehicle.
After a foot pursuit, police arrested Gilbert behind Hobby Lobby, 1801 W. 23rd St., and recovered a handgun in the area.
