Wichita ? Parole has been denied for the man who helped kidnap a 9-year-old Nancy Shoemaker in Wichita in 1990. Another man raped and killed the girl.

The Kansas Parole Board noted in its ruling released this past week that the community was “exceedingly opposed” to the release of 46-year-old Donald Wacker. The board also found that Wacker “continues to demonstrate high risk.”

Nancy’s father, Wayne “Bo” Shoemaker, says he is relieved the decision will keep his daughter’s abductor in prison longer.

Wacker and Doil Lane kidnapped Nancy on July 30, 1990, after she walked a block and a half to a convenience store in south Wichita to buy soda for her sick brother.
