Army Pvts. Matthew A. Monson and Kelly D. Stremel have graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Monson is the son of Jeffrey Monson, Lawrence. Stremel is the daughter of Mark Stremel, Manhattan, and Susan McLaughlin, Lawrence.

Air Force Airman Shane M. Hefner has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman is a 2009 graduate of De Soto High School and the son of Rod and Julie Hefner, De Soto.
