Army honors Fort Leavenworth combat training center

? Its soldiers and officers don’t take part in combat, but a training center at Fort Leavenworth is being honored for preparing those who do.

The Battle Command Training Program was scheduled to receive the Superior Unit Award during a ceremony Tuesday at the northeast Kansas post.

The program is part of Fort Leavenworth’s Combined Arms Center-Training group. The award is for preparing units for deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan and homeland security from 2007 and 2008.

The Army established the Superior Unit Award in 1985.
