Man arrested in connection with Sunday morning stabbing

Lawrence police have arrested a suspect in connection with a weekend stabbing that sent one man to Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Officers arrested a 24-year-old Lawrence man in the 2400 block of Ousdahl. He was booked into the Douglas County Jail shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday on one count of aggravated battery.

Police were called to the 1700 block of West 24th Street around 4:15 a.m. Sunday after a 27-year-old man was stabbed multiple times in the neck and torso.

The victim was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital where, according to a hospital spokeswoman, he was treated for his injuries and released.

Lawrence police spokesman Sgt. Bill Cory said the incident, which started as a verbal altercation that turned violent, was still being “actively investigated.”

Police are still conducting interviews in the case.
