Lawrence police have arrested a suspect in connection with a weekend stabbing that sent one man to Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Officers arrested a 24-year-old Lawrence man in the 2400 block of Ousdahl. He was booked into the Douglas County Jail shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday on one count of aggravated battery.

Police were called to the 1700 block of West 24th Street around 4:15 a.m. Sunday after a 27-year-old man was stabbed multiple times in the neck and torso.

The victim was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital where, according to a hospital spokeswoman, he was treated for his injuries and released.

Lawrence police spokesman Sgt. Bill Cory said the incident, which started as a verbal altercation that turned violent, was still being “actively investigated.”

Police are still conducting interviews in the case.

Students like to turn in theft reports. Get's them money from daddy' and momma's insurance. No questions asked.

sout of Hobby Lobby ripe for redevelopment, utilizing the Kansas Neighorhood Revitalization Act, but the city doesnt want it redeveloped 'cause the local developers need to fill their developments.

Just imagine all of that cleaned up south of Hobby Lobby, it torn down as well and the entire area redeveloped to 27th including the Chinese restaurant site.

A great area for a retirement community. Nice condos/townhomes for young families, singles and not to forget medical/dental services.

Won't happen. The money folks don't want to waste their time in Lawrence when they can go elsewhere.

One has to wonder how long the "new" furniture store can make it on Iowa.

The area south of Hobby Lobby has the second highest violent crime rate in the city. Downtown has the highest because of the bars. Oread has the most burglaries.

So many stabbings in this town... Are you all just too poor to buy handguns?
