Girls State set to start Sunday
About 300 high school seniors will converge on Kansas University starting on Sunday.
The 68th annual American Legion Auxiliary Sunflower Girls State is scheduled from Sunday until Friday at KU.
Delegates will study government at all levels, patriotic traditions, voting, volunteerism, and women’s health and safety issues. They will campaign for state and county offices and conduct primary and general elections.
Sunflower Girls State is sponsored by KU Continuing Education with funding from the American Legion Auxiliary and a grant from the Office of the Provost.
Many state and local government leaders are scheduled to address the delegates.
