Former officer faces jail for stealing drugs

? A former western Missouri police officer has been sentenced to four years in prison for stealing drugs from the Weston Police Department’s evidence room.

Kyle Zumbrunn was sentenced Thursday. He admitted to investigators that he began stealing drugs while on duty as a Weston police officer because he needed extra money.

The 27-year-old was arrested in September 2009 after selling drugs to an undercover Kansas Bureau of Investigation officer.

Zumbrunn already is serving a 16-month sentence in Kansas. His Missouri sentence will run concurrently with the Kansas term.
