Wichita ? A law enforcement initiative is targeting the homes of drunken driving offenders in the Wichita area to verify compliance with conditions of probation.

Officers from the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office and the Wichita Police Department were making spot home checks Thursday to check sobriety. Offenders who are found to have been drinking face arrest and more penalties for violating probation conditions.

Law enforcement officials have assisted in four such spot checks in Sedgwick County since June of last year. Visits to 59 homes resulted in eight arrests for consuming alcohol and one for a curfew violation.
