Kids recovering from bus crash
Wellsville ? Most of the nine children injured in a bus crash in eastern Kansas have been released from the hospital.
The bus was returning from a church camp in Franklin County when it swerved off Interstate 35 Saturday near Wellsville and rolled onto its side.
One child was originally thought to be critically injured and was airlifted to a hospital. But her father, Eric Hatfield, told The Kansas City Star his daughter, Kara, is expected to make a full recovery.
Carl Herbster, pastor of Independence, Mo.,-based Tri-City Ministries, which sponsored the trip, said another child had a fractured hip and another had a broken arm. Other children had cuts and bruises.
He said Kara and the child with the hip fracture were the only two remaining in the hospital.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said the investigation will take at least a week.
