Topeka hospital lays off 105 people
Topeka ? St. Francis Health Center is laying off 105 employees in response to a decline in patient admissions.
Hospital officials said Tuesday that about one-third of the layoffs are management positions and include nonclinical and clinical departments.
Hospital spokeswoman Christine Woolsey says the laid-off employees will receive a severance package.
St. Francis is a not-for-profit Catholic health care provider in the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System.
The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that this was the second layoff for St. Francis in less than two years. The hospital laid off 29 employees in November 2008.
