Wichita Park City officials have agreed to settle the city’s part of a lawsuit with Sedgwick County over jail fees it hadn’t paid since 2008.
Sedgwick County sued several cities, including Park City, for nonpayment of fees to house inmates on municipal charges.
The Wichita Eagle reports that Park City has agreed to pay $36,450 to settle back fees and begin paying on time. It had owed $139,516 with interest.
To reduce overcrowding, Sedgwick County in January, 2008, began charging cities a $2.09 hourly fee to house inmates with municipal charges.
