Huhtamaki worker sentenced for theft

? A Missouri man was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison for stealing from a company where he worked.

Thirty-five-year-old Joseph S. Bowen, of Kansas City, was also ordered to repay $329,000 in restitution to Huhtamaki U.S., based in De Soto.

Bowen pleaded guilty to eight counts of wire fraud committed from April 12, 2006, to Aug. 8, 2008, at Huhtamaki. The company provides consumer goods, packaging and food service containers, and disposable tableware.

Bowen’s duties included receiving and processing invoices and payments to vendors and customers who qualified for rebates.

Prosecutors say Bowen redirected payments into his personal bank account by making false entries into the company’s accounting system.
