Jury picked in trial of Scott Roeder, man accused of killing George Tiller

? A jury of eight men and six women has been chosen for the murder trial of the man charged with killing a Kansas abortion doctor.

The panel was chosen late Thursday afternoon, after reporters were let into the Wichita courtroom for the first time in the jury selection process. The initial phase of questioning had taken place behind closed doors for nearly six days.

Scott Roeder is accused of fatally shooting Dr. George Tiller last May 31 at a Wichita church. The 51-year-old Kansas City, Mo., man is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault.

Opening states are expected Friday morning. Two alternate jurors will be selected later in the proceedings.
