Kansas Air National Guardsmen helping with Haiti earthquake relief

? Kansas Air National Guard members are helping assess personnel and equipment at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, as part of the nation’s effort to respond to the earthquake in Haiti.

The adjutant general said Thursday that 48 members of the 190th Civil Engineering Squadron from Topeka’s Forbes Field went to Guantanamo on Jan. 4 as part of their annual training.

Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting says those airmen are now helping with the earthquake relief efforts, preparing for the possible assembly of tents and deployment of other logistical requirements to respond to the Tuesday’s devastating earthquake.
