Candidates report fundraising totals in statewide races

? Kansas Attorney General Steve Six reports raising more than $375,000 in 2009 for his re-election campaign.

Six, a Democrat, reported the figures Monday to the secretary of state’s office for his 2010 campaign.

Sen. Majority Leader Derek Schmidt of Independence raised $137,643.72, while Ralph De Zago of Herington raised $5,705.

In the secretary of state’s race, Republican Kris Kobach of Piper raised $93,568 in 2009, compared to $110,166.70 raised by J.R. Claeys of Salina. Claeys loaned his campaign $100,000 of that total, compared to $2,354 loaned by Kobach to his campaign.

Democrat Chris Biggs, the state securities commissioner, reported raising $1,454, including a $1,000 personal loan. Biggs ran unsuccessfully for attorney general in 2002.
