Turnpike Authority plans meetings to update public on upgrade project

People interested in the upcoming reconstruction of the Kansas Turnpike’s East Lawrence interchange are invited to learn more about the work — and its effects on traffic — this week at the I-70 Business Center.

Informational meetings are set for 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday at Redeemed Bible Fellowship, which is in Suite 109 in the center that is at the intersection of North Third Street and the interchange’s access road in North Lawrence.

The turnpike plans to close the interchange, which is exit 204, to all traffic for seven months beginning April 5. The work is part of an ongoing $130 million job to replace bridges, overhaul interchanges and make other upgrades to the part of the turnpike that cuts through Lawrence.

Officials ask that people planning to attend a meeting to call (316) 652-2646, or e-mail kta-pr@ksturnpike.com. For more information, visit SpanningTheFuture.com.
