Kansas lawmakers take today off

? Kansas legislators are taking Monday off, having passed their annual “turnaround” deadline.

The deadline passed last week. It was when most bills had to clear their chamber of origin to be considered further.

Typically, “turnaround” is near the halfway point of the annual, 90-day session.

Neither chamber is in session Monday.

The Senate is having committee meetings Tuesday and a session Tuesday afternoon, though it doesn’t plan to debate bills.

But the House doesn’t have committee meetings scheduled, and is doing only a brief session in the afternoon to handle housekeeping chores.

Legislators expect to wrap up their session in early May.
