Three bound over in slaying outside Topeka high school

? Three people from Topeka have been bound over for trial after a shooting on the grounds of a high school that left one man dead and another person wounded.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reported that a judge decided Wednesday that there was enough evidence to proceed with the case against the three, 21-year-old Coty Rylan Newman, 19-year-old Austin Craig Tabor and 20-year-old Samantha L. Hochard.

The most serious charge they face is one count each of first-degree murder in the Oct. 23 death of 20-year-old Matthew C. Mitchell of Topeka. Mitchell’s friend was shot five times but survived.

Witnesses said Tuesday during the preliminary hearing that the victims had gone to Topeka West High School after hours to purchase marijuana.

Attorneys for the suspects either didn’t return messages from The Associated Press or declined to comment Thursday.
