— Topeka police have shot and wounded a person accused of pointing a weapon at an officer.

Police said in a statement Monday that the shooting happened Sunday night as police were trying to stop a car that had been taken during a home invasion. During the pursuit, one suspect fled the vehicle on foot. The suspect pointed a firearm at the officer after a short pursuit and was shot.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reported that neither the identity of the wounded person nor his condition was immediately released.

The shooting and home invasion are under investigation.

Our cops can shoot straight. Too many home invasions lately. I wish all of these Lawrence folks would move back there. This is giving us a bad name.
