Reform Party candidate charged

? A Reform Party candidate for Kansas governor has been charged with falsely reporting a domestic disturbance.

The Salina Journal reports that a preliminary hearing scheduled for Friday for Ken Cannon was canceled so he could stay with his father who was undergoing surgery.

The hearing on charges of battery and criminal threat was rescheduled for Sept. 24.

The charges stem from an anonymous 911 call made on July 10 reporting a disturbance at a rural Cloud County residence.

Cannon previously was charged with battery and making a criminal threat stemming from an altercation in April with the former president of the board of the Concordia School District and others. Cannon used to work at the Concordia district.

Cannon’s attorney could not be reached for comment.
