Feds seek $4.2M in ’pill mill’ case

? Federal prosecutors want a Kansas couple convicted of running a so-called pill mill to forfeit $4.2 million plus real estate and other assets.

A forfeiture motion was filed Friday in the case of Dr. Stephen Schneider and his wife, Linda. A U.S. District Court jury convicted them in June of money laundering, health care fraud and unlawfully prescribing drugs at their clinic in Haysville.

The clinic served hundreds of pain patients and was linked by federal prosecutors to several overdose deaths.

The forfeiture part of their trial will be decided by U.S. District Judge Monti Belot.
