Sponsorships are being sought for the inaugural Stride for Stone, a 5K run to benefit Team Tongie, the Austin Stone Scholarship and the Brain Injury Association of Kansas.

The run is set for 8 a.m. Sept. 18, to start and end at the Tonganoxie High School track and include a trip through downtown Tonganoxie.

The event is being organized and run in honor of Stone. Last year, while a senior at Tonganoxie High School and member of the track team, Stone suffered brain damage during a dental procedure in Lawrence.

By the end of next week, Ritchey said, a website for the event — www.StrideforStone.com — should be operational and include downloadable registration forms.
