McLouth ready for threshing bee
In 1953, the first McLouth Threshing Bee took place in the western Jefferson County community.
Friday, the tradition continues for yet another year.
This year’s threshing bee will run Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the McLouth Threshing Bee grounds, which is a few blocks south of Kansas Highway 16 in McLouth.
Steam threshing will be conducted at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day, while a saw mill will operate throughout the event, as will a flea market and food vendors.
An antique and classic tractor ride, which is the second annual benefit ride for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Jefferson County Historical Society, will start at 9 a.m. Friday. A parade of tractors will head from McLouth to Winchester and then Oskaloosa before returning to McLouth. For more information, contact Charlie Luse at (913) 774- 2759.
At 6:30 p.m. Friday, a mini rod tractor pull is planned, followed by live music by Hazzard County.
