Fire that injured two in western Kansas ruled accident

? A truck explosion in western Kansas that injured two firefighters has been ruled accidental.

It was reported that Rose Rozmiarek, chief of investigations for the State Fire Marshal’s Office, said the fire earlier this month in Kirwin was accidental.

A semitrailer exploded near the Kirwin water tower, critically injuring two firefighters and destroying two fire trucks from the Kirwin volunteer fire department.

After the fire, the two injured firefighters were hospitalized in Kearney, Neb. One of the men has been released. The other has been transferred to a rehabilitation hospital in Lincoln, Neb. He’s expected to stay there for at least 10 weeks recovering from a head injury.

The report from the fire marshal office said gas tanks on the semitrailer overheated, causing the explosion.
