Body of man found in river identified

Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Herrig on Tuesday night identified a man whose body boaters found floating in the Kansas River near Lecompton on Sunday.

The man was Roy C. Manns Jr., 34, of Topeka.

Herrig said investigators were still waiting on results from some coroner’s tests before determining the cause of death.

He said it was a “high possibility” that Manns was the man who on April 10 jumped off the Kansas Avenue bridge above the Kansas River in Topeka.

Herrig said investigators were working with Topeka police and that foul play did not seem to be involved.
