Statehouse Live: Rally to be held to advocate for social service funding
Advocates for Kansans with disabilities will hold a statewide rally this week in Hutchinson to protest cuts in services.
The purpose of the event is “to educate the public and legislators on the issues that are causing people to lose vital services,” according to a release from the Prairie Independent Living Resource Center.
Budget cuts have resulted in waiting lists of several thousand people for in-home and community-based services.
The rally will be held at noon Wednesday in DCI Park in Hutchinson.
