Governor pondering Wichita-area casino

? A spokesman says Kansas Gov. Mark Parkinson will decide soon whether to give a state board additional time to consider a proposed casino south of Wichita.

Spokesman Seth Bundy said Wednesday said Parkinson plans to make a decision by early next week.

At the developers’ request, the Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board on Tuesday postponed a decision on whether the $225 million Chisholm Creek project moves forward.

The board’s deadline for acting is April 19, but Parkinson can extend it 60 days.

The casino would be built for the Kansas Lottery near Mulvane, about 20 miles south of Wichita.

Chisholm Creek officials want to see whether legislators rewrite the state’s gambling laws this year.
