COLUMBUS ? A southeast Kansas sheriff’s department has placed an Oklahoma bounty hunter on its Most Wanted list after he failed to show up for a court appearance.

The Joplin Globe reported that the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department has issued an arrest warrant for Gregory Alex Sawin.

The 34-year-old Vinita, Okla., man failed to appear in court last month on misdemeanor charges of criminal restraint, assault and impersonating police.

Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves says Sawin entered the wrong house near Baxter Springs last June 28 and detained a male resident while the house was searched. The police impersonation charge alleges Sawin was wearing what Groves described as a tactical vest with the word “police” printed on it.
