KHP worker charged with threatening trooper

A Kansas Highway Patrol employee has been charged with making threatening phone calls to a KHP trooper since March.

The U.S. attorney’s office in Kansas City, Kan., says 32-year-old Timothy Wyrick of Bonner Springs made calls to the trooper until he was arrested on Tuesday.

Prosecutors say Wyrick was a motorist assist technician who made calls from a pay phone at Wal-Mart in Paola, and from two different Tracfones, to the female trooper’s home and cell phone.

The criminal complaint says in one call Wyrick told the trooper that he had his rifle set up and had her in his sights during a traffic stop.

Federal agents arrested Wyrick on Tuesday after tracing his last call to the trooper. Prosecutors say Wyrick admitted making the calls.
