Greensburg students help rebuild camp

? More than 20 Greensburg residents spent their Labor Day weekend in Little Sioux, Iowa, helping to rebuild a Boy Scout camp damaged by a tornado in June 2009.

The survivors of the tornado that nearly wiped out Greensburg in 2007 were part of a relief effort called “The New York Says Thank You Foundation.” That group rebuilt Greensburg’s 4-H Pavilion last Labor Day.

Members were at the Little Sioux Scout Ranch that was destroyed June 11, 2008, by a tornado that killed four Boy Scouts and injured nearly 50 others.

On Sunday, a chapel was dedicated at the camp.

The New York foundation was started by an equities trader who lost a friend in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. It has been helping with disaster rebuilding efforts since 2003.
