Military retirees invited to event

Retirees from all military branches are invited to attend the 46th annual Military Retiree Appreciation Day on Saturday at Fort Leavenworth.

The event will provide information to military retirees and their families. Registration begins at 8 a.m., and a program will run from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Lewis and Clark Center, 100 Stimson Ave.

The program will include a welcome from Col. Wayne Green, the garrison commander. Guest speakers include Kathy Lucero of TriWest Healthcare Alliance, Natasha Cooper of the Social Security Administration, and family life chaplain Col. Michael Brainerd.

Service agencies and information tables about pay, benefits and vehicle registration will be set up from 10 a.m. to noon.

Identification card services and help with Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the adjutant general’s office, 861 McClellan Ave.

Flu shots are scheduled, but this is subject to availability.
