The Kansas Board of Regents on Thursday authorized construction of a $2.5 million addition to Kansas University’s Lied Center.
The addition will include an education pavilion on the arts, expanded lobby space and additional office space.
The project is being funded by a gift from the Lied Foundation, which was established by Ernst F. Lied, who owned a car dealership in Omaha, Neb., and invested in Las Vegas real estate. Its sole trustee is Christina Hixson.
Officials have said they expect to start construction in the spring and complete the project by 2011. The Lied Center will remain open throughout the construction.
