The Girl Scouts need your help. From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 30 there will be a Cookie Kick Off Party to start the selling season. The event, like a pep rally, will be at Prairie Park School. Immediate needs
• The Watkins Community Museum of History is currently looking for a front door greeter, collections assistants and archive assistants. If you are interested in helping out, call Helen at 841-4109.
• The Villages is looking for a few volunteers to assist with its open house this month. Six to 10 people are needed to help landscape, as well as a couple of people to paint a ceiling in the dining room and to sand and stain the furniture in the children’s room. If you are interested in helping out, contact Sheila Tinsley at stinsley@thevillagesinc.org.
• The Lawrence Community Shelter is looking for help in its kitchen. Could you serve as a “kitchen mentor”? Volunteers would assist in the jobs program by teaching proper baking procedures (with all natural ingredients) for the dog biscuit program. The shelter also needs help with public relations. For more information, contact Ron Guerin at 913-638-4514 or ronguerin@sunflower.com.
• Brandon Woods at Alvamar needs a volunteer to organize activities for seniors, like baking, hosting a coffee club or playing trivia with them once or twice a week. To volunteer contact Suzy Jach at 838-8000, ext. 2224, or jachsuzy@brandonwoods.com.
