Since Kansas is not a major tourism destination; why don't we do somrthing like they do in the Los Angeles area. Instead of the “Home of the Stars” tours; lets do the “Home of the Nuts Tour”. This would relate to the way that most potential tourists think of Kansas anyway. On the itinerary would be the Westboro Baptist Church, The Tiller Clinic, The Clutter House, the Goat Gland Doctor Clinic and the homes of Steve Abrahms, Todd Tiahrt, Sam Brownback, Fred Phelps, Phill Klien and and that UMKC law professor (whose name thankfully escapes me).
The neat part of this tour, it would include a great part of the State and thereby give the tourist a good look at the geological wonders of the State. This will be especially timely following Ken Burn's National Park Serier on PBS.

blind - you forgot to add the crazy, need to be caged, liberals that make up what is Lawrence. It's Kline, not Klien. The name you were looking for of the UMKC law professor is Chris Kobach.

Even I make mistakes. It's Kris Kobach, not Chris.

Penny: Thanks for the corrections to my post! Kinda mixed-up when I hear Phill instead of Phil, and Kris instead of Chris. Hopefully the Travel Industry will get them right when the print the itinerary guide. As for liberal Lawrence on the tour; kinda out-of-place for a tour to see Kansas' right-wing nuts.

I have to give Kudos to blind rabbit….That is a very humorously creative approach to marketing our state…not the most appropriate…but nonetheless…it made me chuckle on this Monday….
On a serious note, they should focus on promoting the Wizard of Oz…..Yeah yeah…got all of your moans and groans out of your system….It's the truth. The WOZ is permanently embeded in the Kansas culture….get over it….It will NEVER go away…so why not go with it??
The state tourism agency should have heavily promoted the OZ fest in Wamego….by heavily…I mean on a national scale….months ago….give people the opportunity to travel here and experience the OZ fest..espcially with this being the 70th anniversary…..an incredible opportunity to put the spot light on our state…..It's better than negative PR the state gets…with the phelps, abortion clinics, etc.

piano: I thought someone tried that (Oz) concept several years ago, did not go anywhere! If I'm not mistaken is was going to be a theme park on the old Sunflower Ammo Plant site near DeSoto!!

Three days seems like a lot for this topic.
Sounds like just another State of Kansas boondoggle.
Off to the City for a free vacation with a few meetings thrown in.
