To put visitors in the spirit of the season, the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve will be host to an 1880s-style holiday celebration from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Refreshments will be served as actors in period costume play historical music, decorate a tree and read “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” at the preserve’s Spring Hill Ranch house. The free event is open to the public.

Also, the ranch house and headquarters area will remain decorated in the historic style from Saturday through Dec. 31.
