Kansas weather may be crazy, but don’t be fooled today by the state’s own road-conditions Web site.
The site will be facing a test of its map software, as officials try to repair a problem that surfaced during snowstorms in March.
To replicate the problem, officials need to “bombard” the system with requests for information about snow and ice. And that means the map will show nothing but roads being covered in snow and ice.
Relax, said Ron Kauffman, a KDOT spokesman: It’s all a test and nowhere close to reality.
People looking to get correct information about road conditions can just click on the “Driving Conditions List” or “Roads Closed List” at the top of the site's home page.
